Recycling Notice
Effective immediately, the City of Greenwood Recycle Center is unable to accept clear plastic and milk jugs until further notice, all other items will be accepted.
The mission of the Street Department is to provide the City of Greenwood with a maintained and safe transportation system. Major functions of the department include: minor street resurfacing, brush pick-up, recycling, street sweeping, mowing public right-of-ways, and overall street maintenance.
If you find problems with City streets in Greenwood, such as pot holes, down or damaged street signs, or drainage problems, please contact us. If you call the Main Office and no one is available to take your call, please leave us a message on our voice mail.
Limb/Yard Waste Policy
Yard waste, per policy and properly staged, will be collected by the City.
FIRST TUESDAY OF EACH MONTH
*Only Biodegradable Bags will be accepted*
Items That The City Will Not Accept
- NO TREE STUMPS will be accepted
- NO Commercially Cut (or cut by contracted labor) limbs or trees
- NO Commercial or Manufactured Lumber or Landscaping timbers will be accepted
- NO Bags with Dirt or Garbage will be accepted
- LIMBS or BAGS cannot be placed in a DITCH, on a WATER METER, SEWER MANHOLE, GAS METER, or ON THE ROADWAY
- LEAVES, GRASS CLIPPINGS and HEDGE TRIMMINGS must be BAGGED in BIODEGRADABLE Bags Only
Dimensions
- Limbs or brush must be NO LONGER THAN 8FT IN LENGTH and NO LARGER THAN 4 INCHES IN DIAMETER
- Yard waste should be stacked for easy loading on a truck. Larger waste may be collected with a backhoe
- The limbs may be bundled and tied with a string or cord. The bundled limbs/brush CANNOT be bigger than 24 in in diameter
Once properly prepared, yard waste should be placed at the curb or no more than 10 feet from the road.
Glass, Paper & Plastic Recycling
The City of Greenwood Street Department is committed to recycling and we are working towards implementing efficient and convenient methods for citizens to recycle.
We operate a Drop-Off Recycling Center adjacent to the Street Department Main Office that accepts glass, paper and plastic products.
Our hours of operation are:

Monday through Friday 8AM – 4PM
First Saturday every month 8AM – Noon

- Cardboard (Boxes must be broken down)
- Newspapers
- Phone Books
- Computer Paper

Containers of the following items will no longer be accepted:
- Laundry/Fabric cleaners
- Cleaning supplies and sanitizer wipes
- Medicine bottles
- Coffee & Creamers
- Shampoo & Conditioners
- Vinegar
- Ice cream, yogurt, cereal bowls, powder drink mix, frosting

Metal Recycling
A trial metal collection bin has been added at the Recycle Center
The following WILL NOT be accepted in the metal bin:
- Appliances
- Propane Panks
- Refrigerant Tanks
- Helium Tanks
- Grills
Scrap metal will be accepted.

- Batteries
- Motor Oil
- Household Cleaning Products
- Paint
- Wire Fencing
